Nigerian singer Darlington Okoye who is popularly known as Speed Darlington and also known as AKPI has been arrested again by the Nigerian police in Owerri, Imo State.
Human rights lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, on Wednesday, 27th November 2024, took to social media to inform the public of the latest arrest of his client Speed Darlington.
The Human rights lawyer also added that the arrest occurred during the singer’s show in Owerri days after returning to the country earlier in the week.
Recall the was arrested on the 4th October, following the release of a video in which he allegedly mocked Burna Boy’s association with American rapper Sean combs popularly known as Diddy, who has faced legal issues with the FBI over charges of sexual abuse.
Darlington was arrested in Lagos and transferred to Abuja before being detained by the IGP’s Intelligence Response Team in the Guzape area of Abuja.
Adeyanju had written: “We just spent the last 30mins with Speed Darlington and he narrated how he was arrested in Lagos Friday last week, moved around and eventually brought to Abuja and has been in detention since then. Petition against him was written by Burna Boy, we can confirm.
This latest arrest has come as a surprise to many who believe that Speed Darlington has ended all ongoing rift with his criticizers.
It seems that the singer still has some issued to settle as this incident is within a brief period of his previous arrest which is barely up to two months.
