Nigerian UK based pastor and former founder of Salvation Proclaimer Ministry(SPAC), Tobi Adegboyega, faces deportation to Nigeria over alleged £1.87 million fraud.
Tobi Adegboyega, the founder of SPAC had his church shut down in 2022 by the UK High Court due to allegations of lack of transparency and financial mismanagement.
The tribunal stated that former church members accused the pastor of running the denomination like a cult.
The pastor applied for leave to remain under the European Convention of Human Rights (ECHR) in 2019, having married a British woman. His application was initially dismissed by a first-tier immigration tribunal before he appealed.
Tribunal has ruled that the clergyman be deported to Nigeria, citing concerns over his church’s transparency and financial management.
Adegboyega addressing the issue protested against being deported and pleaded that the community work and charity he has undertaken would be severely affected should he leave the UK.
Pastor Tobi Adegboyega started his former church SPAC Nation in 2008, with three members. The church was based in Croydon, south London.
Adegboyega stepped down as Lead Pastor of SPAC Nation and handed over the church to Samuel Akokhia on the 20th May 2020.
SPAC Nation church was ordered to shut down for good by the U.K. government, in June 2022 after failing to properly account for more than £1.87 million of outgoings and operating with a lack of transparency.
