The private residence of minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Mariya Mahmoud, has been razed by fire.
The fire outbreak occurred on Sunday afternoon at the residence located at No. 9, Justice Roseline Ukeji Close, Asokoro area of Abuja.
Firefighters were reported not to have responded to the distress calls immediately when the fire broke out.
Media aide to the minister Austine Elemue, who confirmed the incident said the cause of the fire outbreak could not be ascertained immediately.
He said first responders could not salvage anything in the house.
“Yes, fire gutted the private residence of the minister of state. Investigation is still on to know the cause of the fire.
“But electric spark is suspected though, but we are going to wait for the outcome of the investigation. There is no casualty but we could not salvage anything from the house.”The minister media aide said.
