The Nigerian Senate is gearing up to resume its annual session on Tuesday, September 26, 2023. The primary agenda for this session revolves around the crucial task of screening and confirming ministerial nominees put forth by President Bola Tinubu.
President Tinubu’s appointments of Jamila Ibrahim as the Minister of Youth and Ayodele Olawande as the Minister of State for Youth are expected to take center stage during the proceedings. The Senate will meticulously evaluate their qualifications and suitability for these vital roles.
Furthermore, the nomination of Olayemi Cardoso for the coveted position of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor will undergo thorough scrutiny, along with the consideration of four Deputy Governors for the CBN. This decision will have far-reaching implications for the nation’s monetary policy and economic stability.
In another significant development, the Senate is poised to assess and confirm Zacch Adedeji as the new Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS). This appointment carries immense importance in revenue collection and financial management for the Nigerian government.

and Bala M. Bello.
