Unknown gunmen have kidnapped Islamic cleric Alfa Fasasi Ola Mejabi and his younger brother.
The abduction took place while they were transporting the remains of the Chief Imam of Ayegunle Gbede, Sheikh Musa Olorunkemi, for burial in Ayegunle Gbede, Ijumu local government of Kogi State.
The harrowing incident occurred along the Lokoja-Obajana-Kabba road, specifically at Oshokoshoko, as the victims’ vehicle was en route to its destination.
The vehicle had the remains of Sheikh Musa Olorunkemi, who had tragically passed away earlier on Sunday after a brief illness.
The kidnappers have since switched off the victims’ telephone lines, making communication impossible.

However, it has been reported that the kidnappers contacted the family on Monday morning, demanding a ransom of N10 million for the safe release of the abducted individuals.
State Security Adviser, Commodore Jerry Omadara, has confirmed the incident. He assured the public that security forces within the state are tirelessly working to rescue the kidnapped victims from the clutches of their captors.
“It is true but the security operatives were on their trail in a bid to rescue them and arrest the kidnappers,” he confirmed.
