Breaking: FG Declares December 25, 26, January 1 as Public Holidays for Christmas, New Year

The Federal Government has officially declared Wednesday, December 25, Thursday, December 26, 2024, and Wednesday, January 1, 2025, as public holidays in celebration of Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Year.

 

This announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, through a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, on Monday in Abuja.

 

In the statement, the Minister conveyed warm greetings to all Nigerians, encouraging them to embrace the festive season as an opportunity to reflect on the values of love, peace, and unity that Christmas symbolizes.

 

Dr. Tunji-Ojo highlighted the significance of the season as a time to promote harmony, strengthen familial and communal bonds, and renew collective commitment to the nation’s progress.

 

“The Christmas season is not only a period for spiritual reflection but also a time for national renewal. As we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace, let us embody kindness and goodwill, transcending all differences,” the Minister stated.

 

He also reassured Nigerians of the government’s dedication to ensuring peace, security, and prosperity across the country.

 

In his message, the Minister expressed optimism about the success of the Renewed Hope Agenda under President Tinubu’s administration. He conveyed confidence that the new year would bring economic prosperity and a brighter future for the nation.

 

Dr. Tunji-Ojo concluded by wishing all Nigerians a joyous Christmas and aprosperous 2025.
