Veteran Nollywood actor Brown Ifeanyi ‘Browny’ Igboegwu has taken to social media to voice his discontent regarding the pervasive hypocrisy among his colleagues in the Nollywood industry.
In a heartfelt post, the actor condemned the inconsistent actions of his colleagues, who frequently criticize others only to praise them later.
He underscored the necessity of authenticity and sincere relationships, urging his fellow actors to either offer genuine praise or choose to keep mute.
Browny Igboegwu lamented the prevalence of fake love, superficial interactions, and eye service within the industry. He also warned that he would distance himself from any of his colleagues found to be a backstabber.
“So much pretense, eye service, backstabbing, sycophancy, slander, jealousy, gossip etc. pls let true love lead. If I don’t like you I keep my distance period. After all you must not like everybody just like everybody must not like you”. He wrote.
Browny’s career in Nollywood began in 2005.
The actor says acting comes naturally to him but he didn’t dream of becoming an actor he got into acting by accident.
He had visited his friend, director Oke Ozubeluoko, on the set of a film, and noticed that a particular actor was making several mistakes. Igboegwu commented that he could do better even when [he] had no experience as an actor, this happened in 2005. Ozubeluoko gave him the role, and was impressed with his high degree of skill in acting.
As of 2015, Browny Igboegwu has featured in over eighty movies, from his first film, Expensive Error with Hanks Anuku, where he played a cultist. Igboegwu is also known for his role in the 2005 film Marry Me where he acted alongside with Nonso Diobi and Oge Okoye, among others.
