Nigerian actor Charles Okocha, also known as Igwe 2Pac or Mr. Phenomenal, shared why he kept his relationship with his bride privately for seven years, noting that it was a natural step for him at this stage in his life
In a recent interview with Sunday Scoop, Okocha revealed that they have been dating secretly since 2017, explaining “I am getting married because it’s only right for me to be married. We have been dating since 2017, quietly, with no social media show of affection. She lives in America and is a nurse. So, it is true”.
Reflecting on his experiences, the actor revealed that after years of being a “baby daddy,” he thinks it’s finally time to settle down. When questioned about his children’s reaction to the news, Charles stated, “My kids are very comfortable and happy with the news.”
The father of two made the announcement of his upcoming marriage on his Instagram page on November 5, 2024. Charles posted pictures with his fiancée and also introduced the wedding hashtag # MICHARLES2024 confirming the marriage to take place this year.
This took fans by surprise considering his previous reservations about marriage.
The couple had their traditional wedding on Saturday, 9th of November 2024.
In an earlier interview, he expressed skeptical to marrying due to the high rate of divorce stating, “People you look up to are getting divorced… how do you want me to get into this marriage thing?”
“The truth is I have never been married in my life and I am a happy man. You and I know what is going on these days, you see a couple married for a couple of years and next, they are divorced. People you see as role models are getting divorced and when you see them you are like what is going on? These are people you have been looking up to and now they are divorced, how then do you want me to get into this marriage thing?” He said.
Charles Okocha was one of the mentors for ‘Idea Challenge, initiated by Nigeria Billionaires Network’. The actor also won the Vskit Voice Competition in 2019.
