Following Saturday’s governorship election in Kogi State, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Dino Melaye has vehemently called for the cancellation of the polls, denouncing the Independent National Electoral Commission’s handling of the electoral process.
During a press conference held in Lokoja on Sunday, Melaye expressed his discontent, labeling the election’s conduct as “shameful” and insisting that INEC should not have allowed it to proceed.
He criticized the electoral body, stating,
“It is shameful that the unhealthy INEC refused to realize, ameliorate, or palliate the problems they created in the last presidential and governorship elections.”
Echoing Melaye’s sentiments, Muritala Ajaka, the candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), also raised concerns about INEC’s role in the election. Ajaka alleged that the election results were predetermined, claiming they were written before the actual voting took place.
