VICTORIA CHUKWUANI

Controversial Nigerian preacher Daddy Freeze, real name Ifedayo Olarinde has reacted to the resignation of suspended senior pastor of City of David Parish of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Idowu Iluyomade.

Top Society reported that Iluyomade, also called PID, was suspended for three months by the council of elders which is investigating some allegations against him.

The cleric who was replaced by Pastor Charles Kpandei of the church’s Resurrection Parish, Region 11,  submitted his resignation letter to the church, but it was rejected since he is still on suspension.

Reacting to the development on Instagram, Daddy Freeze reteriated his stance on churches being  a form of enterprises. He further noted that people only resign from companys and not the church, adding that one either leaves or get excommunicated.

His post reads; “If i say church (even the online prayer meetings and midnight challenges) are not but business enterprises una go begin argue. You can only resign from a company in my opinion . From a church you either leave or are excommunicated.”

Recall, Iluyomade’s wife held a lavish party a week after a prominent member of the church and the former group chief executive officer of Access Holdings, Herbert Wigwe, his wife, Chizoba and son Chizi and several others died in a helicopter crash in California, United States on February 9.

After the party, social media was flooded with stories that the Iluyomades were not sensitive to the plight of the Wigwe’s, who until death were strong members of the parish.

Netizens argued that the entire Church should have set some days aside to mourn Herbert, wife and son, adding that the party held at Eko Hotel was done in bad taste.

The church was conspicuously left out of the Wigwe’s family funeral.
