Husband To Woman In Viral ‘Mummy Calm Down’ Video Apprehended By Police Following Tragic Suicide

The Edo State Police command has apprehended the husband of Toluige Olokoobi Babalola, in the viral “mummy calm down” video who reportedly committed suicide.

TopSociety had earlier reported that Toluige Babalola, the mother of Oreofeoluwa who become an instant sensation on social media platforms for the ‘Mummy Calm Down‘ three years ago, committed suicide during the week.

Mrs Babalola before her demise worked as medical distributor and stayed happily with her husband who is a taxi driver and car dealer.

Residents in the area of the deceased said that Mrs Babaola never showed any sign that she was going through any hardship.

According to the report, the mother of three had taken her own life in front of her one-year-old child. 

The Edo State Police Command PRO, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, while confirming the news in a statement, said that they have detained the husband for questioning.

Nwabuzor said;

“The husband of the deceased was the first person to officially report the incident. He said, he had just came back from market when he saw his wife hanging with rope around neck.”

”That was how he shouted and called the neighbours come and they carried her body to the hospital where they confirmed her dead on arrival.”

The PRO added that the hospital had to carry her body to the mortuary and the DPO had query the man for delaying to reporting the matter.

Nwabuzor said,

“The man is still with the police and will soon been transferred to the command homicide section of the State CID for further investigation.”

In 2020, Mrs Babalola’s son’ Ore became popular after she shared a video of him in tears from her scolding while confidently telling her to “Mummy calm down” and give him a “last chance”.

He would thereafter meet the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu who commended his courage and composure and he also featured in several interviews with media houses.

Mrs Bababalola during an interview at the time, said the event changed their life for the better, saying that “People that i didn’t expect to meet nor talk to, i met all of them.”
