Actress Jada Pinkett Smith, aged 52, referred to her deceased friend Tupac Shakur as her ‘soulmate’, despite being married to actor Will Smith for 19 years before their separation in 2016.
In a conversation with Rolling Loud’s Christal Jordan, the “Girls Trip” star acknowledged their profound connection while highlighting the absence of a romantic spark between herself and the late “Dear Mama” rapper, who tragically passed away on September 13, 1996, according to the New York Post.
When questioned whether she would use the same term to define Pac, to which he apparently referred to her in the past, Pinkett Smith responded,
“We have soulmates — our children can be our soulmates.

“There’s all kinds of definitions of soulmate.”
During the candid chat, the actress admitted that the pair did have “those moments” of romance together, but it never felt right.
“I wish I could get people to understand,” Pinkett Smith said of the duo’s nonexistent spark. “And I know it’s so hard [to believe] but it wasn’t just me. It was him, too.”
“It was almost like God made us that way. It’s like, ‘Look, we’ll put y’all together, alright? Y’all gonna be a dynamic duo, but I’ll tell you right now: I’m gonna make it so you’re not gonna be able to get together,’ because that just wasn’t the purpose,” she explained.
While actively promoting her forthcoming memoir “Worthy,” Pinkett Smith acknowledged, with a lighthearted chuckle,

“If there is such a thing as past lives, I definitely think Pac and I have traveled a few together in various forms.”
In a recent interview, she disclosed that she and Will Smith have been apart since 2016.
Jada and Will Smith Living Separate Lives – A Long-Kept Secret Unveiled
She mentioned that they had led entirely separate lives for the past seven years but had chosen not to make this information public until now.
Recently, authorities charged Duane “Keefe D” Davis, a former associate of the late rapper, with Shakur’s murder, nearly two decades after a fatal Las Vegas Strip shootout took the rapper’s life.
The two became close during their time together at the Baltimore School for the Arts. Pinkett Smith also appeared in his music videos for “Keep Ya Head Up” and “Temptations,” and she posted bail of $100,000 when Shakur faced a sexual abuse conviction in 1994.

Pinkett Smith and the rapper behind “Hit ‘Em Up” maintained a tight-knit friendship for numerous years. She previously disclosed meeting Pac during her days as a drug dealer.
Additionally, she paid tribute to him on his birthday in 2021 through a heartfelt poem.
Pinkett has been married to “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” star, Will Smith, for 19 years.

However, she recently disclosed that the two have been separated for the past seven years, including during the infamous Oscars incident where he slapped a reporter.
