Lucky Aiyedatiwa was on Monday sworn in as the Governor of Ondo State at the Akure Township Stadium, marking the beginning of his first full term in office.
Aiyedatiwa ‘s inauguration following his victory at the polls in which he contested as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The swearing-in ceremony was attended by key political figures, including fellow governors from the All Progressives Congress, APC, especially from the South West region.
Aiyedatiwa, who had been serving as the governor following the passing of his predecessor, Rotimi Akeredolu, took the oath of office amid cheers from supporters, party leaders, and government officials.
He first assumed the governorship in December 2023, following the death of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, who had been battling a prolonged illness. As Akeredolu’s deputy, he was constitutionally required to take over the reins of government, ensuring stability in the state’s leadership.
His transition to power was not without political tension, as there were power struggles within the state’s political circles. However, Aiyedatiwa successfully navigated the challenges and went on to secure the APC’s ticket for the 2024 gubernatorial election.
After a hard-fought campaign, he emerged victorious in the polls, solidifying his position as the duly elected governor of Ondo State.
