Nollywood actress, Kate Henshaw, has responded to criticism following her controversial message on Father Day.
She had shared a heartfelt message, quoting Proverbs 23:24, and wishing “responsible fathers” a happy Father’s Day.
She wrote; “The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice , and he who sires a wise child will have joy in him. Proverb 23: 24 AMP. Happy father days to all the responsible fathers here.God’s strengh favour and blessings will continues to abound.”
Reacting to the message, a fan of the actress and an X user, Nosafk called out the actress, pointing out that she didn’t use the term “responsible” in her mother’s Day message, sparking debate.
He wrote:” Hi Aunty Kate, here is my Points Based Opinion (PBO) regarding your tweet.
“1. I strongly disagree with people insulting you. I don’t support such flippancy, and no one should offend or intimidate you for such a reason.
“2. Aunty Kate, I know I’m not the owner of your account, and I can’t write for you, but I also know that I can tell the truth. You may disagree or agree, but it is okay.
“3. There are irresponsible mothers and fathers. It’s OK to treat people the same way. If you wish responsible fathers a happy Father’s Day, then it would also make sense to wish responsible mothers a happy Mother’s Day. There’s no need to classify fathers and then do the opposite for mothers.
“4. I’m sure you probably didn’t mean it that way. I think you made those tweets without paying attention to such technicalities.
“5. Men, you’re not supposed to be insulting her. You can do the same on Mother’s Day by wishing “responsible” mothers a happy Mother’s Day. Aunty Kate is speaking for herself and you too can do the same on Mother’s Day.
“6. Responsible fathers are not angry. They understand the context. Everything is not gbasgbos. Do the same on Mother’s Day. No one is prohibiting you from doing it.
“7. Some of you insulting Aunty Kate and her father didn’t have hair in your armpit when she started acting. Una nor get respect for this app.
“In conclusion, you can show your demur without insulting her and the father. Such harum-scarum and opprobrium could have been avoided. Apply caution.”
In response to the criticism, Henshaw made no apology for her father’s day statement. She added, that her tweet stands as an encouragement to responsible fathers..
She wrote: “Good morning Nosa, thank you for your tweet. I only respond because of your demeanour.
“I do have the right to tweet what I want on any given day, and my tweet stands as an encouragement to RESPONSIBLE fathers.
“Others can tweet what they want on any given day, too. I have never deleted any tweet since I have been on this app, even when some rugrats tried the ruse, which failed. My tweet remains.
“Words only have an effect if they are true. Abuses have absolutely no effect on me and mine. Do have a blessed week ahead.”
