Renowned Nollywood actor, Dele Odule has opened up about the most heart-wrenching experience of his life, revealing that losing his first child remains his saddest moment.
The 63-year-old veteran actor, in an interview with colleague Kunle Afod, shared that, the saddest day of his life was when he lost his first child.
Odule recounted how the tragic news deeply affected him, especially considering the challenging circumstances surrounding the birth of the child. Although Odule did not disclose the details, he described the loss as a devastating blow that tested his faith.
He said, “The saddest moment in my life was when I was told my first child died. It was very hard on me.
“It was hard because of the situation surrounding the child’s birth. It was very hard on me but no one can question the authority of God. It was so bad and I do not pray for such anymore.”
He, however, emphasized the importance of education, stating that he would not allow his children to pursue acting until they have completed their studies and become independent.
“My children are naturally artistic. One of them has a talent for singing, while another shows potential in acting. However, I’ve made my passion for education clear to them, so they are currently more focused on their studies,” he said.
“I’m not sure if they may want to pursue acting in the future, but for now, I would not allow it. If any of them decides to act, it will have to wait until they have completed their education and become independent.”
Odule’s career in the entertainment industry spans over three decades. He began acting in a drama group called Oloko Theatre Group under the mentorship of Mukaila Adebisi.
His debut appearance in the industry was in 1986, and he rose to fame after starring in the movie ‘Ti Oluwa Ni Ile’. Since then, he has featured in over 200 movies.
