Mark Angel wasn’t always a star. He was a school dropout who initially dreamt of becoming a medical doctor. However, due to financial reasons, he could not afford this dream and instead found a new path in photography, eventually leading to entertainment, thereby inspiring his comic life.
Mark’s journey started in 2011 after he moved from Port Harcourt and started his classes in Lagos, but it wasn’t too long before he got an opportunity to go to India to learn cinematography and comedy production. After years of grooming in India, the comedy guru returned to Nigeria and made several unsuccessful attempts at collaborating within the Nollywood industry but failed countlessly as the movies did not make waves as they should have been.
Undeterred by his numerous failures, In 2012, together with his friend Dennison Igwe, Mark Angel founded his own media company, Mechanic Pictures, since success in the movie industry was far-fetched. Mark’s talent in cinematography helped in the establishment of the company which involved shooting photos and videos for skits.

Unlike most movies and video skits, where the characters adopt a different nomenclature, Mark decided to do something different by retaining his actual identity. He does excellent work as a comic writer, scriptwriter, and video producer for the Mark Angel Comedy skits.
So far, the Mechanic Pictures has produced over one hundred comedy skits, with the ‘Landlord’ being the most popular. This shot them to the limelight, all thanks to the introduction of its major female character, Emmanuella.
How Emmauella came into the picture has been a big question for the public and fans of the Mark Angel Comedy. However, the comedian, during an Interview, noted that Emmanuella Samuel, who started as a toddler and participates in his skits, is his niece, who lives with Mark Angel’s family.
She became known in 2014 after participating in “Oga Landlord,” which brought them fame and popularity and has helped them win many Nigerian and International awards.
Born on July 6, 2010, Emmanuella, who, alongside Mark Angel, has risen to prominence as one of Nigeria’s most influential comics, was discovered by her uncle while she was a student at his acting school. Emmanuella has featured in almost all of the Mark Angel Comedy sketches and has garnered numerous accolades, including the prestigious Niger Delta Talent Award in 2015 and the Best New Comedienne and Princess of Comedy awards.
With the help and talent of Emmauella and the Mark Angel team, the Mechanic Pictures YouTube channel has grown to become a go-to comic for many Nigerian subscribers. This is because the 32-year-old comedian grew his comic empire from scratch rather than compete against the likes of AY, Basket, Mouth, and I Go Die, who were already established in stand-up comedy, which was the rave of the moment.
