Nollywood actress, Halima Abubakar who was suspended by Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) president Emeka Rollas, has filed a lawsuit against him.

Halima Abubakar demanded 30 billion Naira from Emeka Rollas following the announcement of her suspension on his social media handle. The actress was suspended over her alleged involvement in slandering the industry (Nollywood).

Abubakar reacted to the accusations expressing that she was not given an opportunity to respond to the claims before the announcement of her suspension.

The actress in a letter dated October 20, 2024, by her legal representatives, P.D. Pius & Associates, accused the AGN President of deliberately tarnishing her reputation.

Our client has been battling health issues for years, and despite maintaining a professional relationship, you chose this delicate moment during her recovery to spread a false narrative. This has caused her emotional distress and harmed her reputation in society.”

The solicitors demanded immediate removal of the defamatory publication on the AGN’s president Instagram page with public apology and N30 billion in damages for reputational harm.

The actress through her lawyers said if her demands are not met within seven days, they will be heading to court to seek redress.

“Unless these demands are met in 7 days, we are instructed by our client to pursue appropriate legal action.”
