Osogbo, Osun State – In adherence to the directive issued by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), several public schools in Osogbo, Osun State, ceased operations early on Tuesday as workers embarked on an industrial strike.
The directive prompted students to abruptly leave their classrooms around 9 a.m., with many seen on the streets around Stadium, Ayetoro, and West Bye pass, Osogbo, heading home.
Surprisingly, during visits to some schools within the metropolis, teachers were found in their offices even after the students had been dismissed. Fakunle High School, Saint James Grammar School, and Adenle Grammar School were among the institutions where this was observed.

Some teachers expressed their unawareness of the strike, stating that they had resumed work only to later learn of the commencement of the industrial action through labour leaders.
The Osun NLC acting chairperson, Modupe Oyedele, confirmed that workers in the state had fully complied with the strike directive.
Meanwhile, armed police operatives were deployed at strategic points in Osogbo, possibly to prevent any potential breakdown of law and order. Although police presence was notable at Lameco Junction, Old Garage, and Olaiya Area, economic activities in these areas continued without significant disruption.
