Otedola Shares Last Moment With Herbert Wigwe Before His Untimely Death

Chairman of FBN Holdings Femi Otedola has taken to social media to express shock over the sudden death of the group chief executive officer of Access Holdings Plc, Herbert Wigwe.

Top Society reports that Wigwe died in a helicopter crash in the United States on February 9.

The aircraft, which took off from Palm Springs Airport in California, was headed for Boulder City, Nevada when it crashed near a border town on Friday night.

The Eurocopter EC 130 helicopter was carrying six people including Wigwe, his wife Chizoba, first son Chizi, and former group chairman of Nigerian Exchange Group Plc (NGX Group) Abimbola Ogunbanjo. There were no survivors.

Taking to the microblogging platform, X to mourn him, Otedola shared a photo on social media taken a fortnight ago when Wigwe hosted him and Africa’s richest man Aliko Dangote to dinner at his newly built home in Lagos.

The multi-billionaire wrote;

“I am shocked and saddened to hear of the loss of a banking genius Herbert Wigwe, his dear wife Chizoba and first son Chizi.

“Exactly two weeks ago Herbie and his wife hosted myself and Aliko to dinner at his newly built home in Lagos. I will cherish and fondly remember my memories of time spent together with him over the years. Herbie, we will all miss you. Your leagcy will live on forever.”

Otedola extended his condolences to Wigwe’s other children — Tochi, Hannah and David.

“I pray God comforts them during this tragic time,”
