Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu says his administration will continue to develop an enduring and sustainable ecosystem to create a liveable as well as a workable environment for students in
Public Higher institutions in Lagos State.
The Governor said this at the One-Day Interactive Session between him, the Students Union Leaders and Stakeholders in Lagos State, organized by the Ministry of Tertiary Education, with the theme: “Students as Strategic Partners in the Governance Process: Challenges and Prospects for Youth Development”.
Speaking at the event held at Adeyemi Bero Hall, Alausa, the Governor also announced an upward review of the bursary and scholarship for indigene students as he also promised to appoint four former Students Union leaders as Senior Special Assistants.
Sanwo-Olu said his administration would continue to engage students constructively, enhance infrastructure in public institutions, just as he stated that scholarships would be extended to the less privileged and specially challenged Students.
The State Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Tolani Sule commended the Governor for his support assuring that the Ministry would sustain the legacy of excellence as it continues to dialogue and engage the Students, Management as well as stakeholders in its bid to foster an atmosphere of peace.
The Guest Speaker and immediate past Vice Chancellor, Lagos State University, Olanrewaju Fagbohun commended the state Governor, describing him as a man of legacy and also thanked his administration for its constructive engagement, dialogue, the collaborative problem- solving techniques and consultation.
The four former Students Union leaders appointed as Senior Special Assistants were Eniola Opeyemi, Kayode Samuel, Giwa Moore, Adeola Adewunmi.
Present at the event were Cabinet members, the Head of Service, Olabode Agoro, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Adeniran Kasali, Panel of Discussants, delegates from thirteen Public Higher institutions in Lagos State, among other stakeholders.
