Son Arrested for Allegedly Beating Father to Death in Ondo

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 38-year-old man, Nsikak Kingsley, for allegedly beating his 65-year-old father, Adone Peter, to death during a fight in Oda community, Akure South Local Government Area.

According to the police, the incident happened on May 28 and has caused concern among residents of the community.

Police spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, said initial investigations showed that an argument between the suspect and his father turned violent. During the altercation, the father reportedly suffered serious head injuries.

The victim was rushed to a hospital for treatment, but doctors later confirmed that he died from his injuries.

The case was reported to the police by Daniel Moses, another son of the deceased and brother of the suspect. Following the report, police detectives launched an investigation and quickly arrested Kingsley.

The body of the deceased has been taken to a mortuary for preservation and an autopsy, while the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.

Police said the suspect remains in custody and will be charged to court after investigations are completed.
Reacting to the incident, the Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Felix Ohagwu, described the alleged killing as unfortunate and against societal values.

He assured the public that justice would be served and urged residents to resolve disputes peacefully rather than through violence.
