President Bola Tinubu touched down in Guinea Bissau at 5:51 am local time (6:51 am Nigeria time) today, attending the grand festivities marking the West African nation’s 50th Independence Day Anniversary and Armed Forces Day.
The Nigerian leader was warmly received at the country’s airport by a high-ranking delegation, including a senior Minister and Chief of Staff to the President, Soarez Sambu.
Guinea-Bissau had officially observed its 50th Independence Anniversary on September 24, 2023; however, all celebratory events were strategically scheduled for November 16, 2023.
The commemorative ceremony, presided over by Guinea-Bissau’s President Umaro Sissoco Embalo, is anticipated to be a showcase of cultural richness and historical significance.
President Tinubu is slated to return to Nigeria on Thursday, marking the end of his diplomatic visit to join in the jubilation of Guinea-Bissau’s half-century milestone.
