Multi award-winning singer and performer, Tiwa Savage has overtaken her colleague and Afrobeat star, Wizkid to become the second most followed Nigerian on Instagram.
The ‘Somebody’s Son’ crooner who recently revealed she was battling a virus overthrew Wizkid who was once the second most followed Nigerian on the photo and video sharing app.
Grammy Award nominee, Davido Adeleke better known as Davido holds the crown of the most followed Nigerian celebrity, sitting undisputed at a whopping 28.2M followers.
Big Wizkid had occupied the second place with a following of 17.8 million until Tiwa Savage took over the space with a massive following of 17.9M followers pushing the singer to the third position.
Fans of the songsress are celebrating the feat of their favourite singer who’s leading with over a hundred thousand followers.
Tiwa Savage’s feat on social media is coming barely a month after she announced the cancellation all her all performances including her first ever headline arena show in London.
The singer in a statement had disclosed that was battling a virus for the past few weeks and was instructed to be “on strict vocal rest for the next few months.”
She, however promised to be back performing once she’s fully healed.
She disclosed this in a statement released via her social media pages recently.
The statement read,
“To my dear Savage Soldiers, I’ve been fighting off a virus for the past few weeks and was today firmly instructed to be on strict vocal rest for the next few months. I will unfortunately have to postpone all performances including my first ever headline arena show in London.
“I’m heartbroken and devastated but I have to do this to save what’s left of my voice.
“I’m so sorry. I love you all and promise to be back performing once I’m fully healed.”
