Nigerian popular media personality Toke Makinwa has addressed the rumour flying of her recently getting married to her longtime friend and entertainment guru,Farouk Umar.
Images and video from her recent 40th Birthday Thanksgiving service emerged online, showing the pair dressed in matching white outfits and appeared to be sharing a loving moment. The event took over the social media on Sunday, October 2024.
However, Toke Makinwa took to her official Twitter page to address the viral rumors saying that she never got married to Farouk.
Toke expressed appreciation and gratitude to her fans, supporters and well wishers on social media and assured them that she would reach out to them at the right time.
“I did not get married yesterday, I deeply appreciate all your love and prayers, I see how you all desire for me to settle down and God who is the author of time will do it when he thinks it is right. Yesterday was to honor God.” She wrote.
Toke Makinwa is one of the top five African female show host. She is known for hosting ‘The Late Morning Show’ on Rhythm 93.7 FM and for her YouTube vlog series ‘Toke Moments’. She is also an author and a lifestyle entrepreneur.
She married Maje Ayida whom she had been involved with for 8 years prior to their wedding. In 2015, she separated from Maje after discovering he had gotten his ex girlfriend pregnant. Her marriage was dissolved by the Lagos High Court on grounds that Maje committed adultery, this took place in October 2017.
Toke has won several awards including ‘Nigerian Broadcasters Awards’ in the category Outstanding Female Presenter of The Year (2013), ‘Glitz Awards’ in the category Style Influencer of The Year (2017) and many more.
