The Nigerian entertainment this week was thrown into deep mourning after it witnessed the death of top Nollywood actor, Obumneme Odonwodo better known as Junior Pope, Jenifa’s diary star, Aderounmu Adejumoke and that of Kannywood actress, Saratu Gidado.
Other top stories that made headlines including the sentencing of controversial cross-dresser, Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju known as Bobrisky and the collasped marriage of popular comedian, Ayo Makun also known by his stage name as AY.

Junior Pope’s Death: Nollywood Actor, Junior Pope on Wednesday, 10th April was confirmed dead alongside three other crew members while others survived a boat accident on the Anam River on their way back from the set of Another Side of Life, a movie produced by Adanma Luke.
Following the circumstances surrounding their deaths, the general public blamed and accused film maker, Adanma of negligence, asking her to take responsibility for the tragic incident.
The mother of one, bowed to pressure and turned herself over to the police for questioning.
Aderounmu Adejumoke’s Death: Nollywood actress, Jumoke who is famous for her role as Esther in Funke Akindele’s Jenifa’s Dairy series died on April 6.
The cause of her death is yet to be made available to the public, however, announcing her death, her family wrote:
“In the profound depths of grief and sorrow, we share the heartbreaking passing of our sister, daughter, aunt, Aderonmu Adejumoke Oreoluwa.”
AY Crashed Marriage: Ace Nigerian comedian cum film maker, Ayo Makun better known as AY on Sunday confirmed separation from his wife, Mabel Makun via an Instagram post.
The comedian said he has decided to refrain from sharing personal family issues publicly, citing concerns for his family’s privacy and mental well-being, especially that of his daughter who has access to social media.
Saratu Gidado’s Death: Kannywood actress Saratu Gidado, popularly known as Daso has died in her sleep on 7th April, 2024.
The actress’ family announced the shocking death to Freedom Radio on Tuesday, saying that the actress was found dead in the morning.
Her family members explained that the actress failed to wake up on Tuesday morning after the midnight meal before the commencement of the day’s Ramadan fast, Sahur.
Bobrisky’s Sentence: Popular Nigerian transgender, Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky was on Friday sentenced to six month in Prison with no option of fine by Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Federal High Court in Lagos.
Bobrisky was prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for naira abuse.
The court had convicted him on April 5, following his guilty plea to a criminal charge brought against him by the commission.
Zinoleesky Punches Lagos Driver: Popular Nigerian singer, Onyide Azeez also known as Zinoleesky earlier this week punched a Lagos driver who accosted him to demand for money.
The singer in the video that surfaced on social media was seen having a scuffle with a Lagos driver who stopped his convoy.
However, the singer, who was obviously infuriated by the development, hit the driver for stopping his car.
