An yet-to-identified expectant mother on Monday delivered of a her baby while waiting for a bus at Onipanu Bus Stop in Lagos State.
Top Society learnt that the woman unexpectedly went into labour while waiting for a commercial bus around 9am when she started bleeding.
This was disclosed by the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu.

According to Oke-Osanyintolu, upon receiving a distress call from the neighbourhood and bystanders, the agency dispatched paramedics who in collaboration with some market women at the bus stop provide a temporary clinic for the woman.
The LASEMA boss stated that the woman who successfully delivered a baby boy has since been transported with her baby to a nearby hospital for further medical care and attention.
“On February 19, 2024, at approximately 9AM, the Agency’s Emergency Response Team received a distress call from the neighbourhood and bystanders at Onipanu bus stop in respect of an heavily pregnant woman who unexpectedly went into labour at the bus-stop while waiting to board a bus,”
Oke-Osanyintolu said in a statement.
“The LASEMA Response Team and the Agency’s Paramedics moved in Swiftly in collaboration with some market women at the bus-stop, provided a temporary makeshift in ensuring the safe delivery of the baby and the well-being of the mother.
“Fortunately, the woman was successfuly delivered of a bouncing baby boy amidst jubilation.
“The Agency’s Officials after stabilizing the mother and newborn infant quickly transported them to the nearest hospital for further medical care and attention.”
