Nollywood actress cum producer Omoni Oboli has recalled how she lost a role she was supposed to play in a movie over her refusal to kiss a movie director.

The actress revealed this during her latest interview with comedian AY on ‘Glasshouse show’.

She said that the incident happened when she returned to Nigeria after taking a break to raise her kids abroad.

She specified that she could not understand why she would be kissing a movie director when they were not on a movie set which is the standard practice.

“One director asked me to kiss him at an audition, and I couldn’t understand why he would do that. So I was like ‘is this an audition?’ and he was like ‘yeah, I just want to see’ and I said ‘sorry, I can’t do it because I didn’t see any reason I would be kissing you the director when we are not on set.

“And so I said ‘oh no sorry, I can’t.’ Guess what? I didn’t get the role that I travelled for, and I ended up travelling back without playing the role” She said.

The veteran actress has played several screenplays which includes ‘Wives on Strike’ and ‘The Rivals’ a movie coproduced with her friend and won the prize for the Best International Drama at the New York International Film and Video Festival. It was first Nigerian film to be premiered since its inception in 2003.

Omoni Oboli has played lead roles in mainstream films including ‘Anchor Baby’ (2010), ‘Being Mrs Elliot’ and ‘The Figurine’. She is also the first actress from Nollywood to win Best Actress in two international festivals.
