Yusuf Buhari, the son of the late former President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, has won the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives.

He will be representing the Sandamu/Daura/Mai’adua Federal Constituency in Katsina State if he wins the general election in 2027.

In the party primary election held on Saturday, Yusuf Buhari defeated his opponent, Auwal Lawal Daura, in a clear victory. He received a total of 5,849 votes, while Auwal Lawal Daura got only 21 votes, showing a wide gap between the two candidates.

This result means Yusuf Buhari has now become the official APC candidate for the constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections. He will now prepare to face candidates from other political parties during the main election.

The APC primary elections for House of Representatives seats are currently taking place across different parts of Nigeria as the party selects its candidates for the upcoming general elections.

His victory has attracted attention because of his family background, being the son of a former Nigerian president, which has made the contest closely watched by political observers.

Yusuf Buhari’s victory has attracted public attention because he is the son of former Nigerian president Muhammadu Buhari. Many political observers believe his family name and political influence may play a major role in the coming elections.

The Sandamu/Daura/Mai’adua Federal Constituency is considered politically important in Katsina State because of its connection to the Buhari family and the strong support the APC enjoys in the area.

Meanwhile, party members and supporters who attended the primary election described the process as peaceful and well-organised, although some APC primaries in other states have reportedly faced delays and complaints.

Political analysts are expected to closely watch Yusuf Buhari’s next moves as preparations for the 2027 general elections continue across the country has begun.
