President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, on his victory in the 2026 governorship election, describing it as a strong endorsement of his administration by the people of the state.
Oyebanji, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was declared winner of Saturday’s election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
In a congratulatory message released by his spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu praised the people of Ekiti State for conducting themselves peacefully during the election and for renewing their support for the governor.
The President also commended security agencies for maintaining peace and order throughout the voting process.
Tinubu urged INEC to continue conducting free, fair, peaceful, and credible elections as the country prepares for the Osun State governorship election in August and the 2027 general elections.
According to the President, Oyebanji’s victory reflects the confidence of Ekiti residents in his leadership and development agenda.
He noted that the governor’s first term witnessed improvements in key sectors, including infrastructure, agriculture, education, healthcare, youth employment, and rural development.
Tinubu added that the renewed mandate given to Oyebanji represents the people’s desire for continuity, stability, and governance focused on their needs.
The President also highlighted that Oyebanji has become the first governor in Ekiti State’s history to secure re-election for a second consecutive term.
