Traders of Igbo origin are allegedly currently fuming over the plan of the Lagos State government and the Nigerian Railways Corporation (NRC) to destroy all commercial shanties situated on the railway line in Agege Pen Cinema area.
Information reaching Top Society News reveals that some factors lead to both the government and NRC’s decision to take this drastic step and one of such vital factors is the series of robbery incidents occuring in that axis on regular basis.
There are widespread reports indicating that the region has been designated as a security concern for a considerable period. Top Society News has gathered that unsuspecting pedestrians, who are unaware of the hazards associated with utilizing the Pen Cinema rail line, have been subjected to brutal assaults by peculiarly appearing, drug-influenced young individuals who frequently loiter on the rail line.
Many have fell victim of these nefarious activities by the ungodly remnants and this issue must have spurred the government to take drastic actions against it.
We also gathered that the NRC, on its own side is also planning to evacuate traders from the spot and this will be as soon as possible. As a matter of reality, the area is so dangerous and has been touted as one of the most volatile crime spots in the entire country.
Presently, the Igbo merchants, constituting the largest group using the rail line, are greatly displeased with the actions taken by both the Lagos State government under Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and the NLC.
