The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has officially announced that the application portal for student loans for the 2024/2025 academic session will open on Saturday, February 22, 2025. This follows the closure of the 2023/2024 application cycle on Friday, February 21, 2025.

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja on Monday, February 17, 2025, NELFUND Managing Director Akintunde Sawyerr revealed that the previous application cycle saw an impressive 364,042 applications over a span of 220 days, averaging 1,000 applications per day.

 

Key achievements from the 2023/2024 cycle include:

 

Over ₦22 billion disbursed to cover tuition fees across 240 institutions, benefiting 215,514 students.

₦13 billion allocated for student upkeep, with 169,114 students receiving ₦20,000 monthly to support their living expenses.
