Plateau Cleric Accuses Government of Covering Up Christian Killings, Heads to ICC

A well-known cleric from Plateau State, Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, has said he will take the Nigerian government to the International Criminal Court (ICC) over the continuous killing of Christians in Plateau and other northern states.

Rev. Dachomo, who serves as the regional chairman of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, made this known in a message shared on his social media page.

He said he has gathered a detailed list of Christians killed by Islamic extremists and Fulani bandits, as well as records of churches destroyed since 2010. According to him, these documents will be sent to the ICC and the United States government for action.

The cleric accused both the Nigerian government and the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) of keeping silent while Christians continue to be killed in the Middle Belt, especially in Plateau. He said their denial of the killings has worsened the situation and encouraged the attackers.

Rev. Dachomo revealed that some Nigerians and international donors have started providing funds to support the legal case and to assist the families of victims of the attacks.

He cited a recent mass burial of 17 victims in Heipang District, saying the incident was another example of what he called “Christian genocide.” He noted that despite repeated denials from the government, evidence shows the attacks are targeted and systematic.

The pastor said his submission to the ICC would include testimonies from survivors, photos of mass graves, and records of mass burials across the Middle Belt.

“The world needs to know the truth. I will go to any length to prove that this government is lying,” Rev. Dachomo said. “We will also take legal action against the Miyetti Allah group for their role in these atrocities.”

He recalled that on March 7, 2010, over 500 people were killed in one night in Dogo Nahawa, a Christian community in Jos South Local Government Area.

“Because of my constant outcry, my own village has been attacked several times. Over 50 people have been killed, including my relatives and close friends. My best friend’s wife and five children were burnt alive,” he said.

Rev. Dachomo added that he is currently visiting affected communities to document cases of Christian killings, saying many of the attacks were never officially recorded.

“In Jaruwa, worshippers were burnt alive during a church service. None survived because the terrorists locked the church and set it on fire. I am visiting places like Wurekum, Doruwa, Mangu, and Bokkos to gather more evidence,” he explained.

He said all his findings would be compiled into a report for submission to international bodies to prove that genocide is happening in Nigeria.
