The Ogun State Police Command has deployed 2,500 security personnel to ensure safety during the 2026 Ojude Oba festival celebrations.
The officers include regular policemen and special tactical teams from units such as the Police Mobile Force (PMF), SWAT, Anti-Kidnapping Unit, Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit, Traffic Department, and other security units operating in Ijebu-Ode and nearby communities.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed the deployment in a statement released in Abeokuta.
According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, ordered all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and tactical teams to remain on high alert throughout the festival period.
The police said security operations would focus on major routes and areas including Sagamu Interchange, Ijebu-Ode–Benin Expressway, Molipa axis, and surrounding communities to prevent crime, traffic problems, and any disruption of public peace.
Ojajuni also instructed officers to remain professional and respect the rights of law-abiding citizens while carrying out their duties.
Residents, visitors, and festival participants were advised to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station or through the command’s emergency lines.
Meanwhile, President Bola Tinubu congratulated Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun on his 66th birthday.
Tinubu praised Abiodun’s leadership and developmental projects in Ogun State, describing him as a committed leader whose policies have improved governance in the state.
The President noted that the governor’s birthday coincides with his seventh year in office and commended his “Building Our Future Together” agenda.
Tinubu also praised Abiodun’s efforts in promoting industrial growth and improving the ease of doing business in Ogun State.
