Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara has broken his silence, assuring the public of his commitment to safeguarding the interests of the state.
The governor’s message, conveyed through a video posted on his official X handle on Friday, emphasized the importance of an inclusive government that adheres to principles of justice and fairness.
Two More Commissioners Resign From Fubara’s Cabinet
Acknowledging the support of the people of Rivers State, Governor Fubara expressed gratitude while pledging to lead an administration that caters to the needs of all citizens.
This statement comes at a critical juncture marked by a series of resignations within Fubara’s cabinet over the past two days, a development reportedly tied to an intensifying conflict between the governor and his predecessor, Federal Capital Territory minister Nyesom Wike.
Adding to the political turmoil, 27 members of the state assembly have defected from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In response to the defection, the Rivers State Government has ordered the demolition of the Assembly Complex, citing the necessity to reconstruct a suitable structure following an alleged “arson attack” on October 29.
