President Bola Tinubu is set to join fellow heads of state and government in Bissau, Guinea-Bissau, to commemorate the country’s 50th Independence Anniversary and Armed Forces Day.
Tinubu’s visit comes on the heels of his active participation in the Saudi-Africa summit in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, held on November 10.

This marks President Tinubu’s second visit to Guinea-Bissau during his administration, responding to an invitation extended by President Umaro Embalo.
The President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, confirmed in a statement released on Wednesday that Guinea-Bissau officially marked its 50th Independence Anniversary on September 24, 2023. However, all celebrations were scheduled for November 16, 2023.
The statement is titled ‘President Tinubu Honours Invitation to Guinea-Bissau for Independence Day Commemoration’. President Tinubu is expected to arrive in Bissau on Thursday and will promptly return to Nigeria the same day.
