The Redeemed Christian Church of God has revealed why its General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, sat on the throne of the Olugbon of Orile Igbon, Oba Francis Alao Akinbola, in Oyo State.
Recall that a viral photo, posted on the microblogging platform, X on Friday by the RCCG Public Relations Department, showed Pastor Adeboye sitting on the royal chair.

The picture gathered different reactions from social media users, with some netizens condemning the cleric for sitting on the monarch’s throne.
The monarch involved on Monday, clarified that the chair Pastor Adeboye sat on was one of the royal chairs used by high-ranking dignitaries and not the one for his throne.
However, in a statement on Tuesday, the church said contrary to insinuations that the octogenarian cleric sat on a new chair during the church’s evangelism programme, he did not ask the king to vacate his throne so he could sit on it.

The church added that the altar seat was brand new, and no individual had ever sat on it.
The statement reads,
“It has been brought to our attention that Pastor E.A Adeboye supposedly asked a King to vacate his throne so he could sit on it. This is false!
“Pastor E.A Adeboye was going to minister from the altar and there was a chair which was the only chair prepared for him which was already placed there.
“At no point during his time at the ministration did he ask any of the Kings to vacate their throne for him to sit on.
“The seat on the altar was brand new. No other King or individual had sat on the seat before!
“Pastor E.A Adeboye truly respects and honours the traditional chiefs & traditional rulers in our nation.
“He honours them, holds them in high regard and would not do anything at all to demean them.
“Pastor E.A Adeboye appeals to all those who are fabricating and spreading various false comments.
“Pastor Adeboye does not consider himself ‘God’!
“He did not and would never displace any person from his throne for him to sit down.
“Please in the future before you pass any comment on anything that has to do with Pastor E.A Adeboye – kindly find out the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth from his office.
“Kindly check the social media handle of Pastor E. A. Adeboye’s office which is @rccg_pr so that you avoid highly dangerous errors.”
