The Lagos State Commissioner for environment and water resources Tokunbo Wahab has disclosed reason for reopening a restaurant owned by celebrity bartender, Pascal Okechukwu, better known as Cubana Chief Priest.
Top Society reports that Lagos State commissioner for environment Tokunbo Wahab had on Sunday announced the closure of the food outlet which was launched in August, named Donald’s.
Wahab via the microblogging platform, X formerly Twitter, said restaurant was shut down due to noise pollution and other environmental infractions.
“After several warnings and abatement notices, the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency @LasepaOfficial sealed Donald’s Fast Food on Adebayo Doherty Street, Lekki 1 over noise pollution and other environmental infractions,” the commissioner wrote.
According to unconfirmed reports, Afrobeat star Davido was at the restaurant for its official opening on Saturday night.
However, on Tuesday, Wahab confirmed the building had been re-opened, noting that the proprietor (Cubana Chief Priest) promised to maintain the approved fast food business instead of using the facility for clubbing or partying.
“Following the seal-up of Donald’s Fast Food (De-Angels Night Club) in accordance with the Lagos State Environmental Management and Protection Law 2017, Part VI Section 177 by the Lagos State government, the business proprietor has signed an undertaking to stick to the environmental laws of the State, promising to maintain the approved fast food business enterprise as against using the facility for any form of clubbing or partying as it is a residential area and state laws forbid it,” the commissioner wrote on X.
“Consequently, the Fast Food facility has been ordered unsealed.”
